As a special activity, each school in the Dancing Classrooms North Texas program has the option to participate in the Colors of the Rainbow semifinals event, as seen in the hit documentary film ‘Mad Hot Ballroom’. This event extends the Dancing Classrooms journey by inviting schools to participate in a dance competition. At the close of each residency, students audition to represent their school, with 12 students (six couples) from each school advancing to the competition. The schools are identified by colors, with ladies wearing colored sashes and the gentlemen wearing colored cards pinned to their backs. This is a school-community effort that encourages students to take some pride and showcase what they have learned throughout the 10-week journey. It’s a special event for students, parents, faculty and staff, and we always look forward to honoring and rewarding the hard work invested by so many. Congratulations to all of our DCNT Winners!
