I am a retired physical education teacher. I taught for 32 years, six of them at Central Michigan University and the rest at the elementary level. While at CMU I also coached women’s gymnastics and was a nationally ranked judge.
I started teaching PE in East Detroit Public Schools and moved to Texas in 1984 to teach for Hurst Euless Bedford. I always enjoyed all types of dancing and included it in my curriculum. I began taking lessons in a variety of dance styles in 1995. It was so much fun I joined a line dance team.
I continued classes in country western dancing and in 2007 decided to compete to better my skills. I was blessed to be able to win several world and national competitions for my age and skill level and I still compete.
After retiring from teaching I heard about Dancing Classrooms and decided to join the program. Pierre Dulaine has created a wonderful curriculum to help encourage respect for self and others through dance.
I am so happy to be a part of this fantastic opportunity for young ladies and gentlemen. I enjoy working with the students during their journey and love observing their growth along the way.
